(vi.)  Some  Industrial  Groups.
Finally,  it  appeared  desirable  to  bring  together  the  data  available  in  respect
of  certain  towns  in  which  particular  industries  are  carried  on  to  such  an  extent
as  to  give  them  a  distinct  character.  This  is  done  in  the  following  Tables,
which  give  such  data  for  groups  of  towns  in  which  coal-mining,  engineering,
shipbuilding  and  the  manufacture  of  textiles  are  respectively  important.  For
the  textile  group  it  is  impossible  to  summarise  the  wages,  since  the  variety  of
occupations  and  their  differences  between  one  town  and  another  are  so  great,
but  information  as  to  wages  in  the  textile  trades  will  be  found  in  the  separate
town  reports.
