Full text: Cost of living in German towns

XXXV
(vi.) Some Industrial Groups.
Finally, it appeared desirable to bring together the data available in respect
of certain towns in which particular industries are carried on to such an extent
as to give them a distinct character. This is done in the following Tables,
which give such data for groups of towns in which coal-mining, engineering,
shipbuilding and the manufacture of textiles are respectively important. For
the textile group it is impossible to summarise the wages, since the variety of
occupations and their differences between one town and another are so great,
but information as to wages in the textile trades will be found in the separate
town reports.
