Material zur Beurteilung der Vorgänge in Pommern. 
Wörtlicher Auszug aus dem 
Protokoll des Deutschen Landbundes 
über ib'tc Besprechung am 16. Mai 1919, in welcher Kollege Gg. Schmidt 
von dem Direktor des Pom. Landbundes, v. Dewitz, wegen seiner 
Stellung zum Landarbeiterstreik befragt wurde: 
Herr v. Dewitz (Pommerscher Landbund) wendet sich dann in längeren Aus 
führungen zur Arbeiterfrage und zum Zusammenhang der Landarbeiterlöhne mit 
den Preisen für die landwirtschaftlichen Erzeugnisse, befürwortet einen Ausgleich 
zwischen den Forderungen der ländlichen Arbeiter und Arbeitgeber in Lohnkom 
missionen und stellt dann an Herrn Schmidt die Frage, ob die Landarbeiter im 
Interesse der Volksernährung nicht grundsätzlich auf den Streik verzichten könnten. 
Ein Streik der Landarbeiter sei für diese ebenso katastrophal wie der Streik der 
Landwirte. 
Herr Schmidt (Landarbeiter-Verband) erklärt demgegenüber schlechte Er 
fahrungen bei der Zusammenarbeit mit landwirtschaftlichen Organisationen ge 
macht zu haben. Er wirkt stets darauf hin, daß nicht nur die Interessen der 
Konsumenten, sondern auch der Produzenten berücksichtigt würden. Anderseits 
müßten bei der Regelung der Lohnfragen sich die Landwirte auch in ihrem Be 
trieb hineinreden lassen. Grundsätzlicher Verzicht auf das Streikrecht seitens der 
Landarbeiter sei von seiner Organisation nicht möglich. Er stimm! dem aber 
bei, daß Streiks möglichst zu vermeiden seien, jedenfalls jedem Streik Verhand 
lungen im Schlichtungsausschuß vorangehen müssen. Wenn die unteren Organe 
des Landarbeiter-Verbandes versagten, so liegt dies eben an der mangelnden 
Schulung und Aufklärung, weil seine Organisation früher von den Landwirten 
bekämpft worden sei. Wären die Landarbeiter früher organisiert worden, so 
würden sie jetzt für die Abmachungen diziplinierter dastehen. 
Herr von Dewitz (Pommerscher Landbünd) hebt die einigenden Punkte 
mit den Landarbeitergewerkschaften hervor. Einmal habe Herr Schmidt das 
gemeinsame Zntercsie der Produzenten und Konsumenten anerkannt, zum andern 
habe er der Auftlärung der Arbeiterschaft in volkswirtschaftlicher Beziehung das 
Wort geredet, und zum dritten habe er hinsichtlich der Preise erklärt, es sei be 
achtenswert, daß Angebot und Nachfrage sich wieder regulieren. Er akzeptiere 
diese Zugeständnisse und bitte nochmals, darauf hinzuwirken, daß die unteren 
Organisationen des Landarbeiter-Verbandes in der Provinz auch nach den 
Direktiven der Leitung arbeiten.
