sole exception of Honen Oil Mill, Dairen).
Wedge system (producing round cake).
Wedges are used for compressing Beans.
Manual labour and little animal help used, putting
on the plant a primitive complexion and making it neces-
sarily small-scaled. In the interior of Manchuria, no small
number of such plants still exist.
Screw system (turning out round cake).
The screw replaces the wedge in this system, whilst
the oil-expressing is effected by manual labour, much of
other parts of work being done by machine. In point of
number. the mills in Manchuria mostly belong to this type.
Hoh RATLIC SYSTEM :
(Round cake produced). In place of the screw,
hydraulic power is used. All large-scaled mills are operated
by this system at Dairen and elsewhere.
Bran PLATE SYSTEM :
Among the oil expressing devices, the most advanced
is the Bean Plate system. Compared with the hydraulic
system, far greater pressure is required, and the residue
assumes the form of bean plate, instead of round cake.
As already mentioned, the Nisshin Oil Mills, Dairen,
and the Kabalkin Mill, Harbin, are the only plants that
are possessed of installations of this system.
