THE STORY OF ARTIFICIAL SILK
There will be many openings for designers.
Already, there are designers of Artificial Silk
dresses, in America, who receive £2,000 a
year. Here is a chance for artistic men and
women—a chance to design beautiful gar-
ments that will be sold by tens of thousands.
Several years ago, the manufacturers of
Bradford opened a ‘ Temple of Fashion” in
Regent Street. It was soon closed. It was a
brilliant idea that should have been carried
through—a brave attempt to compete with
Paris. A second attempt should be made by
our Artificial Silk manufacturers. They
should establish a permanent ‘ Temple of
Fashion in London, so that we shall lead
in the matter of fashion, and not wait for
Paris and Vienna.
In America, courses of lectures on Artificial
Silk are now being given in Universities. A
““ RayoN INsTITUTE ’ has been organized,
which is carrying on a campaign to make
Artificial Silk popular and fashionable. It
holds Fashion Shows in the ballrooms of the
best hotels. It gives talks and demonstra-
tions and mannequin parades. It collects and
distributes information about Artificial Silk.
