Die in Kassel von ausgeliehenen Kapitalien genommenen Spor 
teln könnten füglich auch ferner erhoben und unter die damit 
beschäftigten Personen, mit billiger Einschließung des Kriegsraths 
Schmincke, vertheilet werden. 
Geruhen E. K. D., ich bitte aufs dringendste, gnädigst überzeugt zu 
seyn, daß bei diesem unterthänigsten Vorschlage irgend eine Rück 
sicht auf mich nicht stattgefunden hat. In Kassel bezog ich jährlich 
als Kriegsrath mit 200 rf Zulage 800 rf 
als Director der Cabinetscasse 210 „ 
Sporteln, doppelte Portionen u. im Durchschnitt von 
allen Departements 900 „ 
überhaupt 1910 rf 
Vom 1. Nov. v. J. an haben mir E. K. D. doppelten Gehalt gnädigst 
zugestanden, welchen ich indessen unter den eingetretenen traur. 
Verhältnissen nicht angenommen habe und niemals annehmen 
werde. Nur die ersten 2 Posten habe ich mit 1010 rf für das Jahr 
seither bezogen und ich will mit nichts mehr zur Last fallen, da 
ich den größten Theil vom Jahre auf dem Lande wohne, noch 
eine Besoldung von des H. Landgrafen Carl H D. beziehe und meine 
Bedürfnisse sehr einzuschränken gewohnt bin. 
Ich lasse mir jede Abänderung gerne gefallen und bin auch ganz 
zufrieden damit, wenn E. K. D. meinen Antheil von den Geschäften 
einem andern übertragen und mich mit einer Retraitepension be 
gnadigen wollen. Nur darum bitte ich aufs inständigste: Halten 
es E. K. D. für völlig gewiß, daß es noch ehrliche Leute in der 
Welt gibt. Höchstsie müssen am besten davon überzeugt sein, 
was ich für den höchsten Dienst seit 31 Jahren gethan habe. 
Niemand im Staate hat so wie ich mit eisernem Fleiße jeden Tag 
im Jahre von 4 Uhr des Morgens bis um 10 Uhr des Abends ge 
arbeitet; niemand ausser mir hat sich im vorigen Jahre in die durch 
Rettungsanstalten für das K. Vermögen entstandenen qualvollsten La 
gen versetzt gesehen; u. niemand hat sich seitdem l.Nov. v.J. Höchst- 
ihren Geschäften unter beständiger Besorgnis, Freiheit u. Leben zu 
verlieren, mit grösserer Anstrengung unterzogen, als ich. Gerne habe 
ich E. K. D. jedes Opfer gebracht u. aus unbegränzter Ergebenheit u. 
verjährtem Attachement an Höchstdieselben noch kürzlich äußerst 
vortheilhafte Vocationen, welche mir die größten Annehmlichkeiten 
u. meinen Kindern anständigeVersorgungen sicherten, ausgeschlagen. 
Tödtend sind dem ehrlichen Manne die vielfältigen Beweise von 
Mistrauen u. Gefühle von größter Wehmuth müßen ihn tief beugen, 
wenn keine Anstrengung u. keinerlei Befriedigung sie gänzlich zu 
entfernen vermag.“ 
Unterm 17. Sept. 1807 bestimmte ihm der Kurfürst einen Gehalt von 
jährlich 1200 rf. Das war dieselbe Summe, die auch Lennep damals bezog. 
(Marbg.: Buderus’ Rechnung 1807, S. 97.) 
Daß auch der Rechnungsführer Lawätz Gefahren zu bestehen hatte, 
geht aus einem Schreiben hervor, das er am 11. Mai 1814 an Buderus richtete
