Pittsburgh Theological Seminary three being appointed annually for three years’ service. The General Assembly determines the studies. In the year 1825 the Associate Reformed Synod, then but five years old, resolved to establish this theological seminary, and the first professor was the Rev. Joseph Kerr, a graduate of the University of Glasgow. The seminary opened in December, with Dr. Kerr in charge, and three students in attendance. A suitable library was purchased and the “Young Men’s Fund,” for the most part the gift of Dr. Kerr, and for the aid of students, was established. The seminary
