PORTLAND GAS & COKE COMPANY 
GENERAL OFFICE: Public Service Bldg., Portland, Ore 
CONTROL: By American Power & Light Co. 
HISTORY: Incorporated under laws of Oregon, in 1910, as successor of the 
Portland Gas Co. and the East Portland Gas Light Co. In 1924 acquired the gas 
property of the Pacific Power & Light Co., in Vancouver, Wash. Controls 
through stock ownership Northwest Gas and Electric Equipment Co. 
BUSINESS: Supplies gas without competition in Vancouver, Wash; Portland 
and Oregon City, Ore, and in 20 other communities in Oregon in the vicinity ot 
Portland, serving a population of about 400,000. Gas works have a daily generat- 
ing capacity of 29,000,000 cu. ft. and a gas holder capacity of 11,339,000 cu. ft. 
Franchises in Portland are unlimited as to time: franchise in Oregon City extends 
to 1939.
