Zeitalter, wie es das unsrige ist, wo man sieht, wie mit Geld selbst die Masse des in 
telligenten Bürgertums geblufft werden kann, wo Komödie auf Komödie gespielt wird 
mit dem Begriff Vaterlandsliebe, mit Titeln und Orden, da ist es gewiss sehr schwer, 
noch daran zu glauben, dass es möglich sein könnte, die Maske der Heuchelei, ja des 
offensichtlichen Betruges herunterzureissen. 
Aber dennoch bringt der Wandel der Zeit viel. Die Hauptsache ist, dass immer 
wieder das ausgesprochen wird, was ausgesprochen werden muss. Jedenfalls ist aber 
das eine zu erreichen, dass wir unsere Mitmenschen und die politischen Parteien vor 
entscheidende Fragen stellen können und so erkennen, wo Ehrlichkeit und Heuchelei stehen. 
Warum soll es unmöglich sein, unsere Regierung zu veranlassen, eine ständige 
Kommission von Fachleuten zu berufen, die sich mit den Untersuchungen beschäftigt, 
wo und wie weit der Grossbetrieb technisch und wirtschaftlich berechtigt und not 
wendig ist, und wo die Konzentration und Aufsaugung aus rein grosskapitalistischen und 
Machttendenzen erfolgt. Weiter festzustellen, was die Regierung unter „staatserhaltend“ 
eigentlich versteht, und ob sie weiter diejenigen, die wirtschaftlich selbständige Existenzen 
vernichten, ohne dass zwingende Gründe vom nationalwirtschaftlichen Gesichtspunkte 
aus bestehen, als Stützen des Staates und nationale Männer betrachten will. Und eben 
so ist es mit der sozialen Frage. Hier gibt es auch nur die eine entscheidende Stellung, 
zu der Kinderbeschränkung oder Kindervermehrung im nationalen Interesse und den sich 
hieraus ergebenden, unabweisbaren Pflichten des Staates und der Gesellschaft gegenüber 
denen, die die entstehenden Lasten der Kinderernährung und Erziehung allein nicht 
tragen können. 
Wenn wir allerdings beachten, dass die in Frage kommenden Kreise, die die Fähig 
keiten und grossen Kräfte besitzen, um erfolgreich eingreifen und helfen können, mit 
dem Orosskapital aufs engste verbunden, also unfreie Männer sind, so ist allerdings nicht 
viel zu hoffen, dass von dieser Seite Mitarbeiter und Förderer gewonnen werden 
können. Aber gerade deshalb sollten diese Fragen von so grosser praktischer Bedeutung 
und Wert vor das Forum der Oeffentlichkeit gebracht werden, damit das Bürgertum 
endlich, endlich erkennen lernt, dass garnicht die grosse Masse der Arbeiter, die Um 
sturzpartei, gegen die es gehetzt wird, ist, sondern dass von der ganz entgegengesetzten 
Seite der Auflösungsprozess unseres auf wirtschaftlicher Freiheit und damit auf freier 
Entwicklung und Auswirkung von möglichst vielen selbständigen Persönlichkeiten auf 
gebauten Wirtschaftskörpers eingeleitet und mit Riesenkräften betrieben wird. 
Es bietet sich hier ein Weg, das Bürgertum aus seiner Lähmung wieder aufzurütteln 
und einen grossen nationalen Schwung hineinzubringen. Nicht das Kapital und die 
grosszügigen Unternehmer gilt es zu bekämpfen und zu vernichten, sondern jene Ge 
bilde eines unnatürlichen, eines Kunstprozesses, die nur geschaffen werden aus dem Be 
dürfnis einzelner Giganten, die ihren Tatendrang, gleich Napoleon dem Grossen, nur mit 
der Höchstleistung, ohne Rücksicht auf Kosten und Opfer und nationale Interessen, 
befriedigen wollen. 
Daher heisst die Fragestellung nicht: Wie kommen wir zu Rekordleistungen im 
Aufbau vom Grossbetrieben, sondern wie erhalten wir möglichst zahlreiche, selbständige 
und selbstverantwortliche, schöpferische, freie Persönlichkeiten. Eine solche Frage gehört 
nicht in das Reich der Utopie, sondern dürfte wohl einer ernster Prüfung durch die 
Fähigsten wert sein, wenn diese Gewähr bieten für ihre Unabhängigkeit, Ehrlichkeit und 
Wahrhaftigkeit.
