In ascertaining the State average for each of the three years, the averages for the individual areas were veighted on the basis of the harvested acreage investigated in these areas. To obtain the three-year average for each State, the State data for each of the years 1921-23 were weighted n the basis of the total acreage harvested in the State in each year, respectively.
