CHEMICAL EXTRACTION SYSTEM : 
The oil contents of Beans are extracted by means of 
a chemical solvent, chiefly benzine or benzol. It is the 
latest process, the only mill based upon this system in 
Manchuria being the Honen Oil Mill, Dairen (formerly 
known as the Suzuki Bean Oil).

The wedge system is the most obsolete, and for all 
oil-expressing and other operations practically manual 
labour with animal help is depended upon. While it has 
only a small producing power, it wants a comparatively 
large area of land for the factory and working ground. 
Now that Bean Cake and Bean Oil have risen as com- 
modities of worldwide demand and require quick and 
extensive production, to cheapen the producing costs by 
extensive manufacture, a thing like the wedge system may 
be regarded to have outgrown its usefulness. 
Actually all the large-scaled mills at the chief centres 
on the S.M.R. Lines have become mechanicalized, the 
hydraulic system mills occupying the majority, as might be
