confine individual leaks within a restricted area. They need
not be niore than 4 to 5 feet high, but the outer wall should
be sufficiently high to retain from two-thirds to three-fourths
of the contents of all the tanks in case of accident. The
depdt area should be provided with an adequate system of
drainage in order to carry off heavy rainfall.
As a precaution against fire, the station should be equipped
with appliances of a chemical character. Carbonic acid
gas foam has been used with efficacy in such cases, as also
a gas foam produced from caustic soda and alum solutions.
