Accordingly, Manchurian soil can hardly be called physically
 excellent. As to ifs chemical ingredients, at many
places shortage of organic matter is noticed, but mineral
contents being comparatively plentiful, chemically speaking,
 Manchurian soil may be called suited to Bean cultivation.


(3) How To Grow BEANS

As regards the method of Bean cultivation in Manchuria,
 more or less variation is noticed according to places.
As regards manuring, generally immediately after the
harvest is over in autumn or just prior to the thaw early
in spring, heap manure is carried to different spots in the
field, to be spread all over it before the sowing season, so

as to be ploughed into the soil, to make it prepared to

receive the seed. as a rule, in drills.

The sowing period varies more or less according to
locality. However, the most popular period is between
late in April and the middle of May. A fortnight after the
seed has been laid down. they will germinate. Two or
three weeks after the germination the first weeding will
be carried out, and the second or third weedings two or
three weeks later. Sometimes the fourth weeding is carried
out.
