Auditor for the Post Office Department: And
provided further, That the Postmaster General
shall select and designate the post offices which
are to be postal savings depository offices, and
shall appoint and fix the compensation of such
superintendents, inspectors, and other employees
as may be necessary in conducting, supervising,
and directing the business of such offices, includ
ing the employees of a central office at Washing
ton, District of Columbia, and shall prescribe the
hours during which postal savings depository of
fices shall remain open. He shall also from time
to time make rules and regulations with respert to
the deposits in and withdrawals of moneys from
postal savings depositories and the issue of pass
books or such other devices as he may adopt as
evidence of such deposits or withdrawals. The
provisions of the act approved June twenty-fifth,
nineteen hundred and ten, are hereby modified
accordingly.

AS AMENDED BY THE ACT OF JUNE ELEVENTH,
EIGHTEEN HUNDRED AND NINETY-SIX.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of
Representatives of the United States of Amer
ica in Congress assembled, That the act author
izing the Postmaster General to adjust certain
claims of postmasters for loss by burglary, fire,
or other unavoidable casualty, approved May
ninth, eighteen hundred and eighty-eight, as
amended by the act of June eleventh, eighteen
hundred and ninety-six, be, and the same is
vestfgate t0 and hereby, amended so as to read as follows :
