ber if it attempts to transfer without 
such written consent. 
4. Cannot accept a transfer, even by consent 
of the member, without notice to the 
society from whom the transfer is sought 
. to be made. 
5. Must hold at least one general meeting of 
the members in every year, notice of 
such meeting to be given by advertise 
ments or by letter or post card sent 
prepaid to every member. 
6. Must have open for inspection for seven 
days preceding the meeting, a copy of its 
balance-sheet, and must deliver or send 
prepaid a copy to any member on 
demand. 
7. Must obtain the certificate of a public ac 
countant, not an officer of the society 
(other than auditor), to the annual returns. 
In any dispute arising in a society of this class, the 
member has the option to appeal to a County Court 
or Court of Summary Jurisdiction, in the place 
where he resides, notwithstanding anything in the 
rules to the contrary. No collector is capable of 
taking part in the management of the society or 
in the proceedings of any of its meetings. Contra 
vention of this provision, or of those as to the 
transferring of members, is an offence punishable 
by a fine of from JJ1 to £5. The section (30) 
applies not merely to societies established after 
1st January, 1876, but to those in existence at
