by his generosity. It was he who gave the 
nation a £50,000 collection of French paintings 
in 192+. 
The Courtaulds’ Board of Directors does 
not approve of personal publicity. It is an 
active Board. There are no deadheads on 
it. Every Director is a worker. It acts as 
a whole. All important matters are brought 
before it, There is no Dictatorship. Every 
problem is solved in conference. This is, very 
likely, one of the secrets of its continued
