Les sections ont deux caractères différents. 
Les unes sont locales et les autres professionnelles. 
Dans la première catégorie rentre, par exemple, 
l’Association industrielle et commerciale des divers 
cantons. 
Les sections ont pour but l’étude de la défense des 
intérêts communs de la même profession sans tenir 
compte des frontières cantonales. 
Les principales sections locales sont les suivantes: 
Société industrielle et commerciale de Bàle ; 
Société commerciale de Zurich ; 
Directoire commercial de Saint-Gall ; 
Société intercantonale des Industries du Jura ; 
Association commerciale et industrielle génevoise. 
Quant aux autres associations ayant un caractère 
professionnel, on peut mentionner : 
La Société zurichoise de l’industrie de la soie ; 
La Société suisse des constructions de machines. 
Le budget de VUnion suisse du Commerce et de Vin- 
dustrie s’est élevé en 1893 à 21 000 francs, dont 
6000 francs, produit des cotisations des sections, et 
15000 francs, subvention fédérale. L’Union possède 
un capital d’environ 11 000 francs. 
En résumé, l’organisation suisse des Chambres de 
Commerce n’est pas officielle. On se trouve en pré 
sence d’associations anciennes ou récentes, les unes 
comprenant toute une région, les autres groupant les
