INTRODUCTION.

59. A registered society may create a loan 
fund distinct from its other funds, and may lend 
a sum not exceeding £50 out of such fund to any 
member. 
60. Every officer of a registered society, having 
receipt or charge of its money, must, if required 
by the rules, give security, and must render 
accounts when called upon. 
61. Legal proceedings may be taken against a 
registered society either in the name of its trustees, 
or of any officer who receives its contributions, 
and continue notwithstanding the discontinuance 
of such officer. Provision is made for the service 
of summonses, &c., at any place of business of the 
society; or, if the place of business be closed, by 
posting a copy on its outer door, and giving notice 
by registered letter to the committee of manage 
ment at the registered office of the society. 
62. Disputes are to be decided in the manner 
the rules of the society direct; and the parties 
may, by consent, refer a dispute to the Chief (or in 
Scotland or Ireland the Assistant) Registrar, who 
may administer oaths, call witnesses, and require 
the production of documents. 
63. Upon application of one-fifth of the 
members of a registered society (or of 100 
members only where the society consists of 1,000 
and not exceeding 10,000, or of 500 members of 
a society exceeding 10,000), the Chief (or in 
Scotland or Ireland the Assistant) Registrar may 
with the consent of the Treasury appoint inspectors 
to examine into the affairs of the society and to 
report thereon or may call a special meeting of the
