United States, Canada and Germany—the three largest exporting 
countries. Other important markets were Argentina, Denmark, 
New Zealand, India, the Philippines. Germany, Cuba and South 
Africa. 
(b) 50 per cent. of the exports from the United Kingdom are 
directed towards parts of the British Empire. 
(¢) The United States exports are very widely distributed. 
(d) The German trade is almost wholly with Europe. Exports 
of rubber footwear, in 1928, from France were valued at £431,709. 
79 per cent. of the total exports from these five chief exporting 
countries were the products of Canadian and United States 
manufacture.

57. Although the United Kingdom is thus one of the principal 
exporters of rubber boots and shoes it is by far also the largest 
single import market. Since 1925 imports have exceeded exports.
