It is evident, then, that between 1923 and the latter part of the period the net bonded debt of both Illinois and Arkansas increased more rapidly than that of Missouri. The increases in these 2 states, furthermore, were much more abrupt than in the case of Missouri. The per capita figures in Table 18 provide a better basis 1 Nebraska, Wisconsin, and Kentucky.
