Amongst them, they can turn out 5.028.097 pieces Bean
Cake and 2,640,395 ‘kin’ Bean Oil. Supposing that all
these mills be worked at full pressure, about 18,000 tons
Beans might be consumed in the course of one day, to be
divided between the hydraulic mills and the screw mills
respectively at 77 per cent and only 23 per cenf, which
latter might be converted into the hydraulic system in no
distant future.
The annual productions of Bean Cake and Bean Oil
and the bean mills in Manchuria in recent years vary
according to years, but they might be roughly put at
60,000,000 pieces (46 kin per piece) bean cake and some
200,000 tons Bean Oil.
Dairen puts out 55 per cent; North Manchuria includ-
ing Harbin, 20 per cent; Yingkou 9 per cent: Antung 6
per cent; the rest of South Manchuria about 10 per cent.
The Harbin outputs chiefly through the freight policy
of the Chinese Eastern Railway, is showing a tendency
of further increase.
