and tubes from France, it will be seen that in 1928 eight countries
took nearly 50 per cent. of the tyres and tubes exported from
France. These countries were, in order of importance, as

In 1926 and 1927 the United Kingdom was by far the most
important export market for French tyres and tubes, taking, in
L927, over 16 per cent. and, in 1926, over 27 per cent. of the
otal quantity of exports of tyres and tubes. The Michelin Com-
pany, however, have founded a factory in England. The first
contracts were placed in June, 1926 and the factory was completed
in October, 1927. The first tyres were manufactured in this
factorv on the 15th November 19927.
70. The following table gives the weight and value of all manu-
factures of rubber and gutta-percha, other than tyres, exported
from France to her principal markets in 1926, 1927 and 1928.
The table is arranged in descending order of quantity exported in
