Housing and Rents. 
Munich is essentially a town of large houses of the " barrack ” type and of 
small tenements, and this characteristic tends to become rather more pronounced 
than otherwise. The word house is here used, of course, in the German sense, as 
indicating an individual block of tenement dwellings, with its series of flats, and its 
front and back buildings as the case may be, in short, the entire structure which
