117 Kaufman Rubber Company, Limited, Kitchener. The present company, with a Dominion Charter, was incorporated in 1915, with an authorised capital stock of £412,000. The original factory was erected in 1908, and additions have been made from time to time. The factory buildings are six storeys high, and the company claims to be the largest exclusive rubber footwear manufacturer in the British Empire. Branch warehouses are conducted at Charlottetown, P.E.I.; Truro, N.S.; St. John, N.B.; Quebec, Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto, Hamilton, London; Winnipeg, Regina, Saskatoon, Edmonton, Lethbridge, Alberta and Vancouver. The exclusive manufacturing company for the above Sales Company is the Kaufman Rubber Company (Ontario), Ltd., with an Ontario Charter and an authorised capital stock of £1,080,000. All of the stock of both companies is held privately, and neither company is affiliated with or controlled by any outside interests. Miner Rubber Company, Limited, Granby, Quebec. It is understood that the paid-up capital of the company is £185,000. A speciality is made of the manufacture of high-grade rubber footwear, as well as rubber heels, and some other lines. Branches are maintained at Halifax, Montreal, Quebec, Ottawa, London and North Bay, Winnipeg, Regina, Edmonton, Calgary and Vancouver. The main administrative offices are in Granby, Que. (also factory). Entirely controlled in Canada. Northern Rubber Company, Limited, Guelph. This company was incorporated in January, 1919, as the Premier Rubber Company, Ltd., with an authorised capital of £103,000. Subsequently, the name was changed and the authorised capital increased to £260,000. The factory is a large three-storey concrete structure, erected in 1919, and is equipped with up-to-date plant and machinery. The company manufac- tures all lines of rubber footwear, including goloshes, tennis shoes, etc., and maintains . branch warehouses at St. John, Montreal, Ottawa, Winnipeg, Calgary, Vancouver, Edmonton, Sydney and Quebec. All stock held and owned by Canadian citizens. Sterling Rubber Company, Limited, Guelph. The company was incorporated in 1912, with an authorised capital of £8,250, as a Provincial organisation. This has since been increased to 31,000 under a Canadian Federal Charter. It manufactures Seamless Rubber Goods only, such as Surgeons’ Gloves, Household Gloves, Nurses’ Gloves, Electricians’ Gloves, Acid Gloves, Meteorological Balloons and various other specialities of Seamless Rubber. In 1998 their exports represented 35 per cent. of their total production, They have direct representatives in England, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Egypt, British West Indies, British and Dutch Guiana, Argentine Republic, China, Italy, Holland, Mexico, Belgium, Sweden and India. The company is owned and controlled by Canadians and has no connec- tion with any other concern either in Canada nor in any other country, and has built up its business independent of any outside influence. Joseph Stokes Rubber Company, Limited, Welland. This company was incorporated in 1920 with an authorised capital of £96,000. The business is regarded as a branch of the Joseph Stokes Rubber Company, Trenton, N.J., the officers and directors of that company being Tentical with those of the Welland concern.
