Chapter VIII. How Manchurian Beans are Dealt In

The way Manchurian Beans, Bean Cake, and Bean
Oil are dealt in may be roughly classed under two heads,
one of them being business on the Exchanges and the other
that outside the Exchanges which latter refers to the
ordinary business practice as has been in vogue in Manchuria
 for vears.

SECTION I.—BUSINESS ON THE EXCHANGE

In Manchuria, there are Japanese Exchanges

and

Chinese Exchanges.

(A) Ox JapaNESE EXCHANGES

The Japanese Exchanges have been established by
Kwantung Government according to the regulations governing
 the Exchanges. To each of these Exchanges is attached
a Trust & Guaranty Co. as the medium guarantying the
actual delivery of the goods bargained for and also for
settling ihe accounts. At present, such Exchanges are
maintained at Dairen, Mukden, Kaiyuan, Ssupingkai,
Kungchuling, and Changchun. The articles dealt in on
these Exchanges vary more or less according to places, but
each is generally divided into the Produce and the Currency
Department. In the matter of Produce, the principal
articles are Beans, Bean Cake, Bown Oil, and kaoliang.
