of Patents to avoid or suspend any application made 
nnder the Patents Act 1903-1909 by a Subject 
of any State at war witb the King. 
8. The Minister or the Commissionen may, at ony 
time during the continuance of these Regulations» 
extend the time prescribed by the Patents Act 
1903-1909, or any Regulations made thereunder, for 
doing aoy act or filing any document, upon such terms 
and Subject to such conditions as he thinks fit, in the 
following cases, namely: — 
(a) Where it is shown to bis satisfaction that the 
applicant or patentee, as the case may be, was 
prevented from doing the said act or filing the 
said document by reason of active Service or 
enforced absence from the Commonwealth, or 
any other circumstances arising from the present 
state of war, which, in the opinion of the Minister 
or the Commissionen, would justify such ex- 
tension; 
(b) Where the doing of any act would, by reason of 
the circumstances arising from the present state 
of war, be prejudicial or injurious to the rights 
or Interests of any applicant or patentee as 
aforesaid. 
9. (1) All things required or authorized to be 
done by, to or before the Minister, other than the 
granting of a licence under Regulation six of these 
Regulations, may be done by to or before any person 
authorized in that behalf by the Minister. 
(2) All documents purporting to be Orders made 
by the Minister and to be sealed with the seal of the 
Minister or to be signed by any person authorized in 
that behalf by the Minister, sh all be received in evi- 
dence and shall be deemed to be such Orders with out 
further proof unless the contrary is shown. 
(3) A certificate signed by the Minister that any 
order made or act done is the ordqx or act of the 
Minister shall be conclusive evidence of the fact so 
certified.

Canada. 
1. Verordnung vom 2. Oktober 1914 
betreffend die Aufhebung oder zeitweilige Ausrer- 
kraftsetzung von Patenten oder Lizenzen, die 
Angehörigen von feindlichen Staaten erteilt sind. 
Die Verordnung wiederholt im Wesen die Be 
stimmungen der britischen Gesetze vom 7. Juni und 
28. August 1914 betreffend die Aufhebung oder zeit 
weilige Außerkraftsetzung der Patente oder Lizenzen, die 
Angehörigen der gegenwärtig mit Großbitannien krieg 
führenden Staaten erteilt wurden, sowie die Vorschriften 
der zeitweiligen Verordnungen des englischen Handels 
amtes vom 21. August und 21. September 1914 zur 
Durchführung der erwähnten Gesetze. Jedoch ist auf 
folgende Unterschiede hinzuweisen: 
1. Die von den britischen Gesetzen dem Handels 
akte eingeräumten Besugmssc werden in Kanada vom 
Patentkommissar und seinem Gehilfen ausgeübt. 
2. Die für einen Antrag auf Aushebung oder zeit 
weilige Außerkraftsetzung zu entrichtende Gebühr beträgt 
10 Dollar. 
3. Die Frage der Übertragungen, mit der sich die 
in Großbritannien geltenden Bestimmungen nicht be 
fassen, ist folgendermaßen geregelt: 
Der Kommissär ist befugt, die Registrierung jeder 
Patentübertragung abzulehnen, die von einem Ange 
hörigen eines mit Seiner Majestät kriegführenden Staates 
vorgenommen und bei dem Patentamte am 14. August 
1914 oder nach diesem Tage hinterlegt wurde, wofern 
er nicht überzeugt ist, daß diese Übertragung im guten 
Glauben und nicht in der Absicht vorgenommen wurde, 
irgendwelche Bestimmung der erwähnten Verordnungen 
und Turchführungsvorschriften zu umgehen. 
4. Diese Verordnung tritt am 4. August 1914 in 
Kraft. (Osterr. Patentblatt 1914, S. 352.)

His Royal Highness the Governor General in 
Council in pursuance of the provisions of an Order 
in Council of date the 6th day of Jauuary, 1915, 
respecting the granting of licenses in connection with 
the Royal Proclamations relating to Trading with tho 
Enemy, published in the Canada Gazette on the 12th 
day of September, 1914, and the 15th day of October, 
1914, does hereby give and grant license to all per- 
sons resident, carrying on business or being in the 
Dominion of Canada; 
To pay any fees necessary for obtaining the 
grant or for obtaining the renewal of patents or for 
obtaining the registration of Designs or Trade Marks 
or the renewal of such registration in an „enemy 
country“; 
And also to pay on behalf of an „enemy“ any 
fees payable in the Dominion of Canada on appli 
cation for or renewal of the grant of a patent or on 
application for the registration of Designs or Trade 
Marks or the renewal of such registration 
The expression „enemy country“ herein means the 
territories of the German Empire and of the Dual 
Monarchy of Austria-Hungary, together with all the 
Colonies and Dependencies thereof, as well as the 
Dominions of His Imperial Majesty the Sultan of 
Turkey other than any territory in the occupation of 
His Britannic Majesty or His Allies. 
The expression „enemy“ herein means any person 
or body of persons of whatever nationality resident 
or carrying ou business in the enemy country, but 
does not include persons of enemy nationality who
