seltenen Fälle, wo ein Zweifel bestehen kann, ob der Blick das 
obere oder mittlere bzw. das mittlere oder untere Drittel trifft, 
können übergangen oder in zwei besondere Klassen von Fällen 
eingereiht werden. Blumenfeld hat nun direkt aus praktischen 
Erfahrungen in Dresden heraus konstatiert, daß bei 777 Fest- 
stellungen in 52,9 % der Fälle die Blickrichtung der Beschauer 
nach der Mitte, daß sie in 24,3 % der Fälle nach links und daß 
sie in 22,8 %. der Fälle nach rechts gelenkt war. Für die Besich- 
tigungen nach unten, oben und geradeaus ergaben sich bei 
932 Feststellungen die Prozentzahlen 69,3; 7,2 und 23,5. Es 
zeigte sich also, daß die in der Mitte und im unteren Drittel der 
Auslage angebrachten Gegenstände mehr Beachtung fanden als 
die übrigen und daß besonders die oberen Teile der Schaufenster 
am wenigsten Beachtung fanden. 
Zu den statistischen Reklameuntersuchungen gehören auch 
jene, die einfach irgendeine Eigentümlichkeit herrschender Re- 
klamemittel durch Abzählung festlegen. Sie können unter Be- 
nützung eines Ausdrucks aus der psychologischen Ästhetik als 
Untersuchungen nach der Methode der Verwendung bezeichnet 
werden. R. Seyffert !) hat z. B. die Schrifthöhe von tausend Pla- 
katen gemessen und konstatiert, daß bei 629 Plakaten die Höhe 
der größten Schrift 5 bis 10 em betrug, während kleinere Schrif- 
ten nur bei 111 und größere nur bei 260 Plakaten vorkamen. 
Die systematischen psychologischen Untersuchungen des Re- 
klameproblems sind nun nicht nur statistischer, sondern auch 
experimenteller Natur. Ein Experiment im weiteren Sinne 
führen wir aus, wenn wir zu Erkenntniszwecken Erscheinungen 
rücksichtlich ihres Eintritts oder Ablaufs beeinflussen. Ein Ex- 
periment in diesem Sinne liegt schon vor, wenn wir eine Pflanze 
aus dem Boden entfernen, um ihre Wurzel zu betrachten oder ein 
Tier in Gefangenschaft bringen, um seine Lebensgewohnheiten
