the producing cost. Being in the form of meal, receptacles
are required for storage and transportation, increasing the
bulk and raising the ships’ freights.

Especially in’ Manchuria, in which the residue takes in
most cases the form of round cake, bean meal is unsuited
for Mixed Storage by the S.M.R. Co. -
In short, the chemical extraction system is capable
of extracting the oil almost wholly, and on this account,
may be called an ideal oil milling process, and promises a
wider adoption as the most desirable and progressive process,
 when some day the solvent falls in price, bean oil
rises in price, the demand for bean residues as a material
for food increases, labour wages rise, and the chemical
axtraction system gets improved.

(b) ApvaNTAGES & DISADVANTAGES oF Bean PraTe

Bean plate gives oil to the extent of 12 per cent of
Beans, retaining some 6 per cent of fat and oil itself. 1t
is the best suited for a cattle-feed. Most of the Beans
2xported to Europe and America is subjected to this process
for the expressing of oil, and bean plate is employed as
cattle-feed. Bean plate, compared with round cake, has

less water amounting to only 10 per cent or so. Supposing
bean plate to get popularized further as cattle-feed, it is
not liable to deterioration in quality during transit. =
