society  whose  rules  were  certified  before  23rd  July,
1855,  a  militiaman  may  be  required  to  pay  an
extra  "contribution  during  the  time  he  shall  be
■serving  out  of  the  United  Kingdom,  or  his  claim
on  the  society  may  be  suspended,  if  the  rules  contain ­
  a  clause  against  the  enrolment  or  service  of
any  member  in  the  militia.
43.  Although  a  member  may,  unless  the  rules
of  his  society  provide  to  the  contrary,  belong  to
any  number  of  societies,  he  cannot  receive  in
the  aggregate  an  assurance  of  more  than  £200,
or  an  annuity  of  more  than  £50  from  such
societies  collectively,  and  must,  before  receiving
any  such  benefit,  make  a  declaration  to  the  effect
that  the  total  value  of  any  benefit  accruing  to  him
does  not  exceed  the  limited  amount.
44.  With  respect  to  payments  on  the  death  of
children,  not  more  than  £6  («)  can  be  insured,
cither  in  one  or  more  societies,  on  the  death  of  a
child  under  five  years  of  age,  nor  more  than  £10
under  ten  years  of  age.  To  provide  for  the  enforcement ­
  of  this  restriction,  certificates  of  the
death  of  children,  obtained  for  the  purpose  of
claiming  money  from  a  burial  society,  are  to  be
specially  indorsed,  and  a  medical  certificate  or  other
