as a market for Beans and Bean Cake was exploited in 
Europe and America, Beans and their products, viz., Bean 
Cake and Bean Oil, have been raised to their present high

(1) Manchuria, while possessing a vast area for cultivation, 
holds extensive wasteland awaiting reclamation at a rapid 
pace year after year. 
2) The climate and soil of Manchuria suiting Bean cultivation 
sxcellently, the Bean production is comparatively larger 
shan elsewhere. 
From. the consideration of maintaining the soil power and 
also of crop-raising by rotation, Bean cultivation is indis- 
pensable in Manchuria. 
Through the South Manchuria Railway and the Chinese 
Rastern Railway serving as the trunk carriers, the trans- 
portation of Beans in a large amount at a time is made 
easily possible.
